Horace Mann has awarded Beverley Watson of Springfield a $10,000 college scholarship as part of the company’s employee scholarship program. Beverley is the daughter of Barb and Rob Watson. Barb is Director of Banking & Investments in the Finance & Planning Division at Horace Mann.

Beverley graduated from Pleasant Plains High School in June with a GPA of 4.5. She is now attending University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, majoring in chemical engineering. She plans to be a sports medicine doctor.

Beverley said she focused on finding a school that fit her passion for academics, sports and her faith, and decided on Notre Dame. “The university is known for exceptional academics and a great sports atmosphere, is located in the Midwest, and would allow me to grow in my faith. When I visited, I immediately fell in love with the campus and the school’s approach to education,” Beverley said.

Beverley participated in student government, National Honor Society, Beta Club, Science Club, Spanish Club and FFA throughout high school. She was a Cardinal Ambassador as an upperclassman, tutoring and mentoring underclassmen. She played golf, soccer and basketball for Pleasant Plains. Beverley is continuing to participate in sports at Notre Dame, competing in club soccer and intramural teams.

Beverley’s $10,000 scholarship will be paid to Notre Dame over four years.
