One of the 76 #SpringfieldNeighborhoodPostcardProject postcards may arrive in your mailbox this Winter. Our Vibrant Community partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Central Illinois on a community art project made possible by the Springfield Area Arts Council

Community Arts Access grant. Rhiannon Gurley of Our Vibrant Community attended 10 of the club’s sites to learn about the club members neighborhoods. Youths 6-13 years of age shared their neighborhood stories, learned to read the map of Springfield and write a postcard while creatively expressing their story visually. The project’s concept is to integrate residents to explore our neighborhoods and experience them with new perspectives as these youths have. Postcard duplicates will be in a traveling exhibition at various Boys & Girls Club events. Locations will be announced at a later date and posted in the project’s Facebook group.

Residents are encouraged to post their postcard or see others in this Facebook  group.
