As the school year begins to wind down, the Hoogland Education Department is already looking forward to an exciting 2018/2019 season under the direction of Matthew Vala. Enrollment in the Hoogland Juniors, Kids and Teens programs is now open for youth 1st through 12th grades. We are so proud of what Matthew and these young people have accomplished. Visit hcfta.org/hoogland-teens-kids--juniors for more information on how to enroll.

Later this month the Hoogland will partner with Concordia Village and the Steinway Piano Gallery of St. Louis to bring back one of our favorite acts, “Dual Piano!” Mark Gifford and Damien Kaplan will help kick off the summer with three, fun-filled musical performances May 25-27. No two performances are alike with Mark and Damien on the keys. Even if you’ve seen them before, be prepared to be entertained all over again!

We were also saddened to learn of the passing of our lovely friend, R-Lou Barker. R-Lou was a great, local philanthropist who loved the arts. It was always a pleasure to see her at the Hoogland. We will miss her great stories, kindness and sense of humor.

It’s a Rock n’ Roll history lesson at ‘The Neverly Brothers: Elvis to the Beatles’

The Hoogland is proud to present “The Neverly Brothers: Elvis to the Beatles.” The Neverly Brothers concerts are a throwback to one of the most exciting chapters in music history: the birth, near death and resurrection of rock n’ roll. Their one-of-a-kind, high-energy stage performances take you on a musical, guided tour of rock history from 1955 to 1965.

The first half of their concert pays tribute to 1950s American Rock n’ Roll, which by 1960 had become a distant memory but became the inspiration for the next wave of young rock bands from Britain.

The second half then pays tribute to the 1964 British Invasion bands that re-invented and re-energized the forgotten 1950s American rock music and pulled Rock n’ Roll from the edge of extinction for a new generation.

Enjoy hits by Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Dave Clark Five and more at “The Neverly Brothers: Elvis to the Beatles!”

He Had it Coming! STC Presents ‘Chicago’

Springfield Theatre Centre presents the hit musical “Chicago.” In roaring twenties Chicago, chorus girl Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie.

Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the American Dream: fame, fortune and acquittal.

This sharp-edged satire features a dazzling score including favorite songs “All That Jazz,” “Cell Block Tango,” “When You’re Good to Momma,” “Razzle Dazzle” and many others that sparked the immortal staging by Bob Fosse.

HCFTA Presents the Return of Dual Piano

The Dual Piano duo is back, playing some of your favorite songs. Mark Gifford and Damien Kaplan are very different musicians, yet they have found a place together, playing, singing and joking around. Improvisation is the key to their success. Comedy runs amuck throughout the show and no one knows what will happen next – including Mark and Damien.
