Riverton native and current NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Justin Allgaier took time out of his busy schedule and was in Springfield recently to help support a fundraiser for the Educational Center for the Visually Impaired (ECVI) which was also a celebration of Evelyn Brandt Thomas’ 99th birthday!

The ECVI is a non-profit organization that provides quality education, training and resources so people with visual impairments are able to live safe, independent and fulfilling lives.

Allgaier, through 22 events in 2022, has three wins, 10 top fives and 15 top 10s and has qualified for the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season.

Paul Wappel, who writes sports feature articles for Springfield SCENE Magazine, interviewed Justin about a number of topics, including the outstanding season he’s having, how he  battles the blistering heat during a race and his ongoing partnership with BRANDT professional agriculture. This is the eleventh year BRANDT has been Allgaier’s main sponsor and the special relationship he has with BRANDT goes well-beyond business.
