Mayor Langfelder with the support of City Alderman, Elected Officials, CWLP Engineers and representatives of all the companies involved in the construction of the solar array cut the ribbon to announce that the solar array is live and feeding electricity into our city’s grid.

CWLP is planning to offset some of the cost for this $437,000 project by selling renewable energy credits (RECs) to their residential and commercial clients.

RECs are certificates provided by “green” energy producers that guarantee they are generating electricity using only eligible renewable energy sources (such as solar, wind or biomass). One REC is equal to one megawatt-hour (MWH) of “green” electricity. A MWH is 1000 kilowatt-hours (kWh).

The cost per month for one REC is under $5.  Instead of installing your own solar array you can purchase REC’s from this project to make your contribution to generating “green” energy.
