Specific guidelines:

• Designs must be graphics only (no text, including the artist’s name or signature), and should depict or suggest iconically the essence of Springfield, Illinois, and acknowledge or suggest poets, writers or writing(s) in some way.

• Designs may be black and white or full color, in JPG, PNG, TIFF or BMP format, ideally 1000×1000 pixels.

• Designs may be submitted as attachments or cloud storage download links to springfieldpoetsandwriters@gmail.com, and must be received by midnight CST Sunday, March 31, 2019.

• An entry fee of $5 per design submitted is required; artists may submit more than one design, but an entry fee is required for each submission.

o Or bring the entry fee to the March 20 Open Mic at Robbie’s Restaurant, 6-8 PM.

 

 

• The winning design will be selected in a blind judging by the SPW Board.


• The winning artist will be invited to the SPW Open Mic from 6-8 PM on the 17th of April (Poetry Month) at Robbie’s Restaurant, where the contest prize of $100 will be awarded, and the winner may enjoy dinner – and a piece of Arch Bailey’s delicious pie – on SPW. All submitting artists – and the public – are also welcome to attend.


• The winning artist will also receive a free t-shirt with her/his design incorporated when the t-shirts are produced.
Springfield Poets and Writers was established as a not-for-profit organization in 1993. Its mission is to inspire and support the literary arts, informing members about writing, writers, and writer-related matters, and providing several venues for publishing, revising, and performing original works. SPW convenes a spoken word Open Mic on the third Wednesday of every month from 6-8 PM at Robbie’s Restaurant, 4 South Old State Capitol Plaza, Springfield Illinois, 62701
