In our 3rd issue for 2018, we present Exec. and Legal Director of the Illinois Innocence Project, John Hanlon.  The article was written by Hillary LaMontagne who recently joined our amazing team of writers this year.    Hanlon’s profile reveals that he is a stanch advocate for the wrongly accused and someone that also works to ensure we have laws in place that protect the innocent.

Lesa Schaive has been promoting the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame for many years.  Writer Lisa Rigoni tells us what drives Schaive to keep the accomplishments of our Hall of Fame inductees in our memories and lets us know how she keeps motivated to do so.

UIS Volunteer,  David Farrell was honored by UIS with the prestigious Willam E. Winter Award for Outstanding Advocate Leadership.  Much of his volunteer work at UIS is through NPR Illinois.  His highly recognizable voice adds much to programs and fundraisers.  There’s a lot to this man and Karen Witter writes all about him in this issue.

We also have short profiles on Tony Rice, the Quarterback for Notre Dame who lead them to a national championship.  He was the keynote speaker for the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.  Also Jerome Buting, the keynote speaker for the Illinois Innocence Project Gala, shares some insights about the nature of justice in his fight to exonerate a wrongly accused man.  A story that was made into a documentary on Netflix.

Gus Gordon in ArtScene shares the story of Tim Ryder’s rise to fame as a comedian in The Best of The Second City improvisational comedy theatre.
