The Springfield & Central Illinois African American History Museum will join historic sites throughout the city in opening their doors to the community. The event will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Come out and learn about the life experiences of African Americans. Crafts for children and adults, refreshments and holiday cheer!

“The museum is pleased to open its doors to our community and show them all of the wonderful
contributions as well as the struggles African Americans have experienced,” said Douglas E. King, Board
President. “The Christmas season is the perfect time to share these stories given to us by men and women
that had visions of liberty when liberty was denied to them.”
